That's My Money!

Money fascinates me. Not in a greedy "give me, give me" way. I mean that I really enjoy making money work for me, organizing it, totaling up the columns, coming up with ideas to earn more, spending it, and better yet, giving it away. Being able to give is a tremendous feeling.

Money doesn't stress me out like it used to. I now know that there's more than enough to go around, even on those days when life just doesn't go quite like I'd expected. That wasn't always the case. At one time, I was drowning in debt, embarrassed, and frustrated. I felt trapped and worn out. It seemed that I worked and worked with nothing to show for it. My husband and I argued constantly about money. It was pretty tough on our marriage.  Now, we have the odd conversation but mostly our money runs according to our plan. What happened? We had an attitude adjustment. We made a choice to change how we thought and felt about money and we changed our results. We let go of our scarcity thinking and adopted a sufficiency attitude.

Myrna’s class looks interesting.  Tell me more about it next time
we talk.  I remember years ago you telling me about her strategy
for paying off debts.  It is the most sensible, effective plan
I have ever heard of, and I have read lots of books about
 finances! - Colleen Corder

Making money is like losing weight. That may seem like a funny comparison but both money and dieting are emotionally charged subjects. To lose weight, a person must either eat less, exercise more, or both. To have more money, a person must either spend less, earn more, or both. Simple but not easy. Like losing weight, managing our money is about a whole lot more than just the facts. It's all tied up in how we feel, what we believe, and how we choose to take action. Once you identify what's going on behind the scenes in your finances, you will be able to choose differently and you will get different results. It's great.

In today's economic climate, it's becoming even more important to know how to manage your money and make it work for you. Money has become increasingly complicate but even so, it's not as difficult as it sounds. You can manage your money.  I know. I've taught this system to numerous friends over the years and now I'm teaching it in online and real world workshops. Through the practical and awareness assignments in the lessons, you'll identify how you think and feel about money now and how to change those feelings so that work for you. You'll learn how to organize and plan your weekly, monthly, and yearly finances while paying down debt and saving for the future. You'll discover what's in it for you, why you want to do all this work, and in the process you will feel empowered, positive, capable, and confident about money and your financial future. You'll learn to live on the plus side of your finances and love it. Why should you? The fact is that NOBODY has a better reason to manage your money than you. Your choices around money create the quality of life you live. If you want different results, you need to make different choices. That's the bottom line.

Thank you Myrna for providing a sense of hope in what was a
dark financial time in my life.  - Colleen Corder

If you know you can do better, this workshop will help. It's based on the plan that my husband and I developed to get ourselves out from under crippling debt. We went from almost $40,000 in consumer debt to paying all our bills and our credit cards off monthly, making double mortgage payments to pay our mortgage off sooner (we're almost done * ), and developing a spending plan that allows us to organize our spending, our way. Our plan is designed for our specific wants and needs. By the end of the workshop, you'll have a plan that works for you and it will feel great.

We have money in the bank for current bills, retirement and short term savings, and a plan for major purchases. Last year, we paid cash for our daughter's wedding.  Money is no longer the emotionally charged topic it used to be. It no longer controls us. We control it. You can too. Our plan works. Our financial planner says we're in the top 5% of North Americans due to our financial management. That's a nice position to be in.

We're not millionaires. We're average citizens living a more balanced financial life. We don't have a magic pill to solve all your problems. We have some financial tools and a way that works if you're willing to work it. Like I said earlier, it's simple but not easy. Many of the good things in life aren't but I can tell you from experience that the lack of financial stress is so worth the work. And after a while, it's not really work at all. It's fun. You just might end up enjoying money like I do.

That's My Money is an one-to-one, confidential, online workshop. There are six lessons designed to guide you in developing an attitude toward and a plan for your inances - to give you the financial freedom and peace of mind that you deserve and - I hope - crave and are willing to work for. Join me and I'll share our approach with you and help your develop YOUR plan for YOUR money. There isn't one right answer - there is your answer and I don't even need to know your numbers unless you want to tell me. Financial success is more about developing an attitude and a plan than it is about actual facts and figures. Invest in yourself and it'll make a tremendous difference.

The first official workshop session is schedule for January 5th - March 6th 2009. If you'd like to sign up for it, please use the link below. If you'd like to begin as soon as possible, I'm looking for 10-12 individuals or couples who would like to be a part of developing the  workshop and book. Right now, what I have to offer is my previous experience helping others to organize their finances, my reputation and experience as an online teacher (
eight years with up to 1,200 international students a year), an outline for the course/book, and a set of assignments. I'll be putting together the written lessons over the next few weeks.

What this means is that you'll be on an adventure with me and able to have a lot of input into developing the content of the workshop/book. Your story will appear in the finished text under whatever name you chose to have me use. If you are part of a couple, it is really important that you have strong support from your partner even if he/she does not want to participate in the workshop. If possible, it's best if you both participate.

The cost of the workshop is $250.00 Canadian. This amount will be converted to your currency when you pay via PayPal. You'll have a chance to approve the total amount before paying. When you complete all of the assignments and provide me with feedback on the course, I will refund half of that amount. We will work 1-1 via email and begin the middle of September. You will have until December 5, 2008 to complete the assignments. Email me at myrna@myrnagiesbrecht.com if you are interested. Because this is a class development opportunity, I'll have a few more questions to ask and then, if we decide to work together, I will forward you an invoice. Thanks.

Session fee $250.00 Canadian (please read my coaching policy below)

Each student receives private, 1-1 coaching for an average of $20.00 per week in each session. PayPal will convert the Canadian price to the currency of your choice and show you total amount BEFORE you click to pay. Please note that the workshop price is per session and that I offer three sessions per year - Fall, Winter, and Spring. A half price fee will be offered for enrollments at or past the midpoint of a session.

In each session, it is the student's responsibility to pace themselves and to complete the lessons within that session or to choose to continue in the next session. An class outline will be received with the first lesson. Consecutive lessons will be sent only after the previous one is completed. If the student chooses to extend the lessons into the next session and completes them before the mid point, one half of the price of that session will be refunded. The session price must be paid in full at the beginning of each session before lessons begin or continue.

If there are extenuating circumstances preventing a student from completing the lessons in the current session (such as an accident or crisis) this situation will definitely be taken into consideration and adjustments made.

* P.S. If you're wondering why our mortgage isn't paid off, thankfully it was a few years back when my husband became very ill with toxic poisoning. We re-mortgaged our house to pay for his treatment at the Environmental Health Center Dallas - http://www.ehcd.com. He was there seven weeks. It was expensive and not covered by our Canadian medical system. If our finances hadn't been in order so that we could borrow the money, I can't imagine what would have happened. Well actually, I know what would have happened and it wouldn't have been fun at all.
